Hello all,
I have been living with Crohn's Disease since 2006. I was a high school senior who had everything in the world going for him. A beautiful girlfriend, great grades and a baseball scholarship to the school of my dreams. I was a healthy young man who had never had any serious illness in his entire life. One day I woke up to abnormally bad stomach cramps and was very fatigued and tired. I had a game the night before so I just figured I was tired and maybe had something bad to eat. I went about my day as normal and the pain and tiredness got worse. This went on for about 3 weeks and I continued to play baseball and go to school without letting anyone close to me know how I was feeling. I was getting scared and both my parents are in the healthcare field so i decided it would be best to tell them. My mom immedietly made me go to the doctor where they did bloodwork and did the normal look over. The pain continued as I lost 20 pounds in that 3 week period. I decided it was time to go the ER and get this taken care of right away. I went through numerous test and the doctors were as puzzeled as me. They thought of parasites and every other bacterial or viral infection possible, the ER doctor referred me to a GI doctor, he did a colonoscopy and xxfound I had Crohn's. I was put on prednisone and asacol and got my flair under control rather quickly. I was young and nieve and thought nothing serious would come of this diagnosis. I began getting sick once every few months with dabilitating pain and diharea. This Disease has changed my life in many ways. My diet, activity level, relationships and spiritual life have all chaned but I must say I feel better about myself now and the person I have become because of this disease. I hope through this blog I can give positive words and hopefully help people with Crohn's have a better outlook about what their life has in store for them.
